Eminem feat. Dr. Dre & 50 Cent - “Crack A Bottle” (by B-Easy)
January 6, 2009 by nappyafro.com Staff · 7 Comments

So as you know by now, we really aren’t the “throw up a new song every 5 seconds” type of website. But as usual, we make exceptions. With all the talk about Eminem’s upcoming album Relapse, it’s funny no one here mentioned “Crack A Bottle”. It first showed up late last year on Big Mike’s mixtape 4th Quarter Pressure Part 2 (Then called “Number 1″). Read more
The Blueprint 3 & Before I Self Destruct DELAYED! (by H20)
November 14, 2008 by nappyafro.com Staff · 11 Comments

In case you haven’t heard by now, Jay-Z & 50 Cent’s albums have been delayed to early ‘09. This marks the first time EVER that Jay hasn’t released an album in that “end of the year” window since Reasonable Doubt, which doesn’t really count in my book because it came out in the summer. As for 50 Cent, well, all I can say is at least we know he’s actually working on this one (just kidding!). Read more
Friday Night ‘Fro: “Pulp Fiction” (by B-Easy)

I hope I didn’t fool anybody with the title of this post; this has nothing to do with the movie that revived John Travolta’s career (I do love that movie Pulp Fiction though). I think I’m just gonna throw up some random title so every Friday Night ‘Fro won’t be just called…Friday Night ‘Fro. I’m not gonna be to long today; it is Friday after all. Read more
Three Reasons Why Hip-Hop Needs Cam’ron (by King Jerm)
October 21, 2008 by nappyafro.com Staff · 17 Comments

After seeing the response of my last column, I decided to bring it back again. This time we are discussing why Hip-Hop needs Cam’ron. I know a lot of you are shaking your heads right now, but trust me, WE NEED CAM! That is what has been missing over the last year. A lack of Cam spells a lull in Hip-Hop, and he might just be what the doctor ordered to get the game going back in the right direction. Read more
The Prophecy Is Complete… (by H20)
October 19, 2008 by nappyafro.com Staff · 11 Comments

Welcome to The Stoop with H20! With Eminem’s shocking new freestyle, it seems as though the prophecy is complete: the Three Headed Monster is coming. If you don’t know what I’m talking about here, it’s the release of 50’s, Dr. Dre’s and Eminem’s new albums. As 50 said it: “Before I Self-Destruct, I’ll Relapse, then Detox.” Read more
Song of the Week: 50 Cent, T.I., Jake One, & Little Brother (by B-Easy)
October 8, 2008 by nappyafro.com Staff · 11 Comments

Once again I’m doing Song of the Week, and once again, I can’t choose one singular song. Well, this week we have a spectrum of different Hip-Hop to counter this. First up, earlier this week, 50 Cent released a track off his upcoming Before I Self Destruct called “Get Up”. 50 hooks up with Scott Storch to deliver an…okay song. Read more
LL Cool J|Exit 13 (by Thic Flair)
September 8, 2008 by nappyafro.com Staff · 14 Comments

12 albums, all gold or platinum. His last album went gold with but quickly fell off the charts and was viewed by most as a failure. This being his last album with Def Jam (some 20 years after he first signed), how does LL wrap up his tenure? By teaming up with 50 Cent, that’s how. Thic takes him to the mat… Read more

iPod Hustle: The Madd Rapper (by B-Easy)
August 12, 2008 by nappyafro.com Staff · 3 Comments

Reppin’ Brooklyn to the fullest and wearing his hate for rich rappers as a badge of honor, The Madd Rapper is quite frankly hilarious. As the creation and alter ego of producer Deric “D-Dot” Angelettie, The Madd Rapper first got major exposure on the intro of The Notorious B.I.G.’s “Kick In The Door” off Life After Death (The best Biggie song of all time in my opinion). He epitomized the hating, strictly east coast rappers that filled the scene at the time of his debut. Read more
The New King of Hip-Hop Part II (by H2O)

Alright, last time I wrote about my concerns on who would run the rap game when all the greats are too old or not popular enough to continue. Some people loved it, other people hated it, and some people thought I was sleeping on some new up-and-coming artists, like Huey, Webbie, Blu, Dolla, and even Aster Roth! Read more
