St. Patrick’s Day have never really meant anything to me. Since I’m not a drinker or even remotely Irish, it never was a big deal. Hell, according to King Jerm, Black folks shouldn’t even celebrate the “holiday”.

But for the past few years when St. Patrick’s Day comes around, one thing comes to mind: Mobile, Alabama. Yes Mobile, you took an L the day NBC 15 sent a camera crew down to investigate some leprechaun sightings. And over 13,ooo,ooo YouTube views later it’s still one of the most funny & ignorant things on the net. Everything is here to make this a viral video classic: You have your famous quotes (“Who else seen the leprechaun say yea!”), the “amateur” sketch, or even the theory that instead of a leprechaun it could be a crackhead. South Park even gave it a parody (I wonder did dude get money off of that?).

So yea, this is what I think about when St. Patrick’s Day comes to mind. Besides, the only leprechaun I know is in Houston (See what I did there?).

This is about how the alleged picture leaker wants $100,000 for these cell phone taken images. Really? I was looking over the Starting 5 (Group Edition) column and wanted to clear a few things up. I think no matter what, Wu-Tang Clan and A Tribe Called Quest should always remain in the starting lineup. However, anyone on my list can change from bench to starter depending on what kind of mood I’m in. For this week, OutKast is definitely in my top 5. I felt my best way of showing my appreciation is hitting nappyafro with “The Art Of Storytellin’ Part 4″ for the song of the week. The song dropped on DJ Drama’s debut album in 2007, and was overshadowed by a few weak singles off the album. Here, Andre 3000 absolutely bodies the track. I’ll let you in on a little background info about B-Easy. I’m not a weed smoker. Never have and probably never will. But that just goes to show you that you don’t have to be one to like Devin The Dude’s music. Not saying that all potheads like his music; I don’t think King Jerm is too fond of it.

Other than probably being one of the most underrated Hip-Hop artist, Devin The Dude has the kind of music that just makes you relax. Sometimes when life is crazy or your in the middle of a f@cked up work week, tracks like “Who’s That Man Momma” or “What A Job” can mellow you out a little and let you relax. What’s my favorite Devin track? “Doobie Ashtray” off Just Tryin’ Ta Live. Who knew that DJ Premier and Devin The Dude could make such great music together (Then again, both have strong Texas ties…). This track also makes Ludacris’ line on “MVP” a lie: “The first southern rapper on a Premo beat”. Naw Chris; beat you by six years.

Even though the Jets didn’t do the unthinkable and make it to the big game (Yes, I may be the only lifelong Jets fan out of Georgia) or even though Farve didn’t give his story a happy ending with that lame ass pass, I’m still excited about Super Bowl XLIV. You might be even one of those people who believe the game is already predetermined like King Jerm (As he ranted about on the recent FROCAST), but even the spectacle of the Super Bowl brings everybody in (The commercials, the halftime show, the Super Bowl parties, etc.). So on this Sunday, who you going for? Colts or Saints?

Even though we’re a Hip-Hop site, I think it’s safe to say that everyone on nappyafro Staff has a little geek inside them (Some more than others). So when new gadgets come out, you know nappyafro is interested. If you’ve been on web today (Twitter or Facebook specifically), you know that Steve Jobs (After years of speculation) finally revealed the much rumored iTablet iPad. Engadget had the scoop:

After nearly a decade of rumors and speculation, Apple’s finally unveiled the iPad. It’s a half-inch thick and weighs just 1.5 pounds, with a 9.7-inch capacitive touchscreen IPS LCD display, and it’s running a custom 1GHz Apple “A4″ chip developed by the P.A. Semi team, with a 10-hour battery life and a month of standby. It’ll come in 16, 32, and 64GB sizes, and it’s got the expected connectivity: very little. There’s a 30-pin Dock connector, a speaker, a microphone, Bluetooth, 802.11n WiFi and optional 3G, as well as an accelerometer and a compass. There’s also a keyboard dock, which connects underneath in the portrait orientation, support for up to 1024×768 VGA out and 480p composite out through new dock adapter cables, and a camera attachment kit that lets you import photos from your camera over USB or directly through an SD reader. The device is managed by iTunes, just like the iPhone — you sync everything over to your Mac. As expected, it can run iPhone apps — either pixel-for-pixel in a window, or pixel-doubled fullscreen — but developers can also target the new screen size using the updated iPhone OS SDK, which is available today. The 3G version runs on AT&T and comes with new data plans: 250MB for $14.99 and an unlimited plan for $29.99 a month contract-free. Activations are handled on the iPad, so you can activate and cancel whenever you want. Every iPad is unlocked and comes with a GSM “micro-SIM,” so you can use it abroad, but there aren’t any international deals in place right now — Steve says they’ll be back “this summer” with news on that front.

It starts at $499 for 16GB, 32GB for $599, and $699 64GB. Adding 3G costs a $130 per model, so the most expensive model (64GB / 3G) is $829. The WiFi-only model will ship in 60 days, and the 3G models will come in 90.

The man right chea! No, he really is right here! Michael Tyler aka Mystikal was released from a Louisiana State Prison this week after serving six years. Crazy how time flies, but it seemed like only yesterday when the “Prince of the South” was topping charts and releasing Platinum and Gold albums. Being a former “No Limit Soldier” this pleases me more than a little bit. He’s served his time, now I hope he can get back in the booth and release some new music. WELCOME HOME MYSTIKAL!

King Jerm is always getting accused of liking the mainstream stuff, while I can admit to being the one on staff to embrace the new school, I still know about “real” Hip-Hop people. I can be close minded when it comes to music now, for example, when I don’t buy into your gimmick, I will not listen to you. Take for instance your boy MF Doom, Doom, or whatever he goes by. I couldn’t take him serious because of his mask that he wears. So I never listened to him. The other day my boy John Doe put me onto a song by him titled “Batty Boy”. I was taken over by the way he was just SPITTING over a SICK beat. The song made me want to throw on some GTA and go on a couple of rampages. He kind of reminds me of what Ol’ Dirty would sound like without the “Drunken Flow”. See, I still listen to “real” Hip-Hop from time to time.
