ByrdGang|M.O.B.: The Album (by B-Easy)
July 3, 2008

When I reviewed Jim Jones’ Harlem’s American Gangster album in February, I honestly thought that I had filled my Jim Jones quota for the year. Not to say that I don’t like Jimmy; he a charismatic fellow. With all the flack the South gets for not having intricate lyrics, it’s funny that a guy who is currently in the fore front for New York is lacking in that category. With all that bullshit aside, I think everyone is waiting to see what Jimmy does next. Well, for one he’s bringing in his own crew that’s not called Diplomats; ByrdGang. Read more
Blood Raw|My Life: The True Testimony (by King Jerm)
June 19, 2008

After the explosion of his boss/rhyme partner Young Jeezy back in 2005, Blood Raw and the CTE label had big things on the horizon. But after killing the mixtape circuit and appearing on the USDA album, Blood Raw’s time is now. Piggybacking Jeezy’s career is one thing but making it on his own is another. Read more
Tyga|No Introduction (by B-Easy)
June 10, 2008

At age 18, Compton/Gardena’s own Tyga already has a lot going for him. He’s signed to Lil’ Wayne ‘s Young Money label, while also being signed to Fall Out Boy member Pete Wentz’s Decaydance Records. In addition, Tyga’s cousin is Travis McCoy, lead vocalist of the group Gym Class Heroes. Read more
Lil’ Scrappy|Prince of the South (by King Jerm)
May 12, 2008

Despite being the flagship artist on Lil’ Jon’s BME Recordings, Lil’ Scrappy never reached the potential that was expected. After pushing 500K on his debut and a disappointing 382K on his follow up, Scrappy went on to sign a joint deal with Warner Brothers for his upcoming album Prince of the South. Read more
MJG|Pimp Tight (by SBK)
May 1, 2008

After 8Ball released his sixth solo album in April 2008, I guess it was partner MJG’s turn at the plate. With this being only his second solo album release in over 10 years since No More Glory in 1997, does MJG hold up the standard or prove that 8Ball & MJG are better together as a group than solo artists. Hurricane Chris|51/50 Ratchet (by B-Easy)
October 26, 2007

As hard as it might be to believe, I really don’t have anything against Hurricane Chris. Is it my fault than when I first saw him I thought, “Who is this chick trying to take Da Brat’s style?” Then I found out he was a guy. My bad. I guess a lot of people don’t make that mistake anymore since his single “A Bay Bay” blew up. Read more
Chamillionaire|Ultimate Victory (by Thic Flair)
September 18, 2007

Curiosity killed the cat, and radio and video killed Chamillionaire for me. I was tired of “Ridin Dirty”, so much so, that I never considered dude at all. Then I heard he was gonna drop the use of “the n word” and clean up his rhymes. Read more
Havoc|The Kush (by King Jerm)
September 17, 2007

Havoc, one half of the duo Mobb Deep, releases his debut album titled The Kush. After hitting the national scene in 1995 with The Infamous, Havoc never grasped the limelight like his partner in rhyme Prodigy. Things have changed since then, they left Loud Records, went to Jive, left there went to G-Unit. Since he produced most of the Mobb hits, Havoc shouldn’t have any problems finding beats for his album. Read more
40 Cal.|Broken Safety 2 (by B-Easy)
September 15, 2007

It wasn’t until I got this assignment to review 40 Cal.’s new album, Broken Safety 2, that I realized that we already reviewed four Diplomats’ albums this year (three actually released in 2007). Then you throw in that we didn’t review every Dipset related album released this year and you see that they put out a few albums this year. Read more
N.O.R.E.|Noreality (by B-Easy)
August 30, 2007

I always liked N.O.R.E.. Let me changed that, I always didn’t mind Noreaga. Yea, he wasn’t the most lyrical, I mean after the first CNN album, he really toned it down. Read more
