Even though I’m not the biggest fan of Battle Of The Sexes, congrats are still in order for Ludacris as he not only gets the #1 spot on this week’s charts, but he also gains his fourth #1 album of his career. Add on that “How Low” has sold over a million copies. And then add on that he recently became the first rapper to appear in five number one hits on the Billboard charts. I’m mad cause I’ve still haven’t gave Gorillaz’s Plastic Beach a good listen. When I do (If it’s in a timely manner), be prepared for a FFWD. Gorillaz enter at #2 this week.

And lastly the Kidz In The Hall make it on that charts with Land Of Make Believe and land at #187. This is a good thing because they didn’t make the Top 200 on the last album (The In Crowd). Checked out my review of Land Of Make Believe here.

For some artists debuting on the charts at #63 is a fail. But for Freeway & Jake One I think it’s a win. First off, and this may seem backwards since I write a column called The Numbers Game, sales aren’t everything. The Stimulus Package sold almost 10,000 copies independently and it was good solid album. Plus the album holds the title of having the best packaging in recent memory. Nuff said.

Sorry we didn’t get to reviewing Mathematics‘ compilation, Return Of The Wu & Friends. Nobody on the crew said anything about reviewing and most of the time that means nobody cares. Okay, that sounded worse than it was meant to be. I actually checked out the album and it wasn’t bad; I’m sure Wu-heads will like it. The album debuted at #163 (Or #192 depending on who you ask).

Even a 10 year break between albums can’t stop Sade. The new album, Soldier Of Love, pushed over 500,000 units and took the #1 spot on top of the charts. It’s really not surprising if you think of the die-hard fans that support Sade. I checked out the album and it was pretty good and stayed in the same vein as Sade’s previous work. It put me to sleep; but still good. Sidenote: Did you know Sade Adu was 51? I didn’t.

Look at Jaheim. Taking the #2 spot and pushing over 100,000 units in his first week. Hey, I honestly didn’t think Another Round would do as well as it did. I guess cause I’m not the biggest Jaheim fan doesn’t mean there aren’t any out there.

I don’t think anybody expected for Rebirth to do a million like Tha Carter 3, but is 170,000 copies in the first week a fail? Depends. Some say no because of the leak being months ahead of the actual release while some say that it a lose because it’s his follow up to C3. Hey, Weezy still got fans to buy his Rock album, I guess time will tell us more when we see the overall sales.

Other thoughts:
A lotta people got some sales boost from the Grammy’s.
Styles P & DJ Green Lantern’s The Green Ghost Project didn’t crack the Top 200.
Statik Selecktah’s 100 Proof (The Hangover) didn’t either.

The Hope For Haiti Now compilation tops the album charts this week and become the first digital-only album in history to do so. The numbers for the album, featuring performances culled from last Friday’s (Jan. 22) massive “Hope For Haiti Now” telethon, are good but when you add the fact the album only was available for sale over the weekend, 170,000 is really impressive.

Sidenote: It seems some people are saying that 50 Cent’s Before I Self Destruct went Gold this week. Naw, maybe global, but in the U.S. it’s still sitting at 372,000.

In seven weeks, Miss Robyn Rihanna Fenty has crossed the Gold mark with her 4th album Rated R. Hey, even I doubted her even getting this far. But I do think if she drops another hit, maybe in another 2 months or so Ri-Ri might be getting a Platinum Plaque.

I included Ke$ha here for a few reasons: She released her album, Animal, last week (And we don’t get too many releases around this time of the year), her album debut at #1, and she was on the chorus Flor Rida’s hit “Right Round”. I also caught a few of her performances and it seems like it the same thing every time (Here & here). Congrats are still in order. She’s not Hip-Hop or R&B though so she probably won’t be mentioned her next week.

Other thoughts:
Trey Songz WILL get his first Plaque (Yes, his first) with Ready. The upcoming tour will Hov & Jeezy will elevate him even more.
Good to see Snoop Dogg back in the Top 50. I still don’t think him re-releasing Malice N Wonderland is a good idea though; Jay-Z remix or not.
