King Jerm vs. Saule Wright After all the responses for the last debate, we decided to bring it back, bring it back! This time we are pitting the Old School Dances vs. the New School Dances! We have Saule Wright taking the Old, while King Jerm is siding with the New! Now let’s keep it clean, and “Let’s get it on!”

King Jerm’s Pick: New School Dances

Round 2, let’s do this like Cassidy and Freeway! Well the New School dances are better than the Old School dances for this simple reason: you don’t have to know how to dance to do these moves. Back in the day you had to know how to dance, or you didn’t dance at all. These new dances that are out the whole family can do! Just this past Thanksgiving, my 57 year old aunt was doing the “Souljah Boy!” I didn’t see many fat guys doing the “Running Man“, but I have seen a lot of them “leaning and rocking!” The new school dances don’t stop in the South either, you have movements in NY, LA, DC, and all over! It’s about having fun again, and nobody does it better than the New school! The old school paved the way for the new, so I’ll give credit where it is due, but that is where it ends! The new school dances are KILLING the old, YouTube some videos and see for yourself! The fight is fixed!

Saule Wright’s Pick: Old School Dances

Lets look at the names of this shit, Chicken Noodle Soup, Aunt Jackie, Supaman, Spiderman. The Motorcycle, the Rockaway…the names tell you all you need to know, its some bullshit. Half you have to have a video and practice to even figure out, the other half are boring after 1 minute of even looking at them. The Wop, The Prep, Roger Rabbit, The Snake, these were the dances. The reason you still see people doing them in the clubs and at parties now is because they are the most fun and are the shit. The Wop will never die out. Dances like The moonwalk, heeltoe, and the electric slide are all being reintroduced now and the only thing new is the name. These lame bastids don’t even have the decency to change the dance. You can keep the Balliiiiiiiiiiin’ motion and I will do the wop against you at anytime my dude. Nina pop y’all!!!!

King Jerm vs. Saule Wright “Let’s Get Ready to Rumble!” We decided to turn back the clock and bring back one of your favorite columns…The Debate! In this corner we have the Rookie of the Year, TSaule Wright, as he tries to knock off the undisputed champ, King Jerm off of his throne. The debate is on which movement was the best, the Snap music or Chopped/Screwed music.

King Jerm’s Pick: Chopped & Screwed Music

So this is the cat I’m supposed to beef with? The Snap movement is GARBAGE, but at least it is fun! How hard can it be to make a Snap song? The Chop/Screw music was developed in the 90’s by DJ Screw in Houston. He used to have people lined up by the hundreds at his door to buy some of his “Screwed Up” tapes. How many people are lined up at Fabo’s door for one of his Snap songs? Some think that you have to be high off of CODEINE to enjoy it, but that’s not true. But you do need to be high off that PURP and drunk off that PATRON to enjoy that Snap music. Now if you are into guys dancing in circles with each other and snapping their fingers, then maybe Snap is for you. Snap is a fad that is quickly dying, for every Snap song you need to have a dance to accompany it. Chopped/Screwed is making a comeback, look at all the artists using the Chopped/Screwed vocals on the hooks of their songs. They’re doing it from NY to the N.O. In closing, I would like to point out that no one refers to the “death of Hip-Hop” by talking about Screwed up music, they were referring to it because Snap had taken over the airways!

Saule Wright’s Pick: Snap Music

In times like this where the average American gets more activity walking from the car to the club than they do in the club, snap music helped save Hip Hop. This Atlanta born movement made it so simple that anyone could follow the beat, as well, it’s too catchy not to groove too. “I Think They Like Me“ and “Laffy Taffy” were huge commercial successes because of the snap sound. Some detractors spew that venom on snap music by saying it’s not hip hop…some go farther and say that it killed hip hop. To quote Hov, “men and women lie, numbers don’t.” Many so dubbed Snap songs sold like wildfire and are the sole reason we know of certain groups. Sure its simple and has even been dubbed by The Source as fathering the worst beat of all time, they can’t deny that even they said that, they were snappin’ and poppin’ to the beat. So snap yo fingas, do ya step.

King Jerm vs. B-Easy Welcome to another episode of The Debate. In this edition, we put two classic Outkast albums against each other: Aquemini and ATLiens. After reading the sides, tell us which one is better by casting your vote.

King Jerm’s Pick: Aquemini (1998)

This one has been brewing for months here at nappyafro.com. This has been one of the most debated topics ever. Aquemini is the only Outkast album to receive the coveted 5 mics. Aquemini is Outkast’s most complete album. From top to bottom this album has no shortcomings. Andre and Big Boi put together their best lyrics with their best production. This album can be played on any coast, not just the south. This was the first Outkast album that featured other artists besides the Dungeon Family also. Don’t get me wrong, ATLiens is one of their best, but not better than Aquemini. Look at the title tracks; Aquemini is far superior to ATLiens. The concept of ATLiens confused many, with Aquemini the opening track (“Return of the G”) let the naysayers know that Outkast skills hadn’t diminished, but now they were refined. Hands down you have to go with Aquemini on this debate! Example/Download: “Return of the ‘G’”

B-Easy’s Pick: ATLiens (1996)

ATLiens is when I became a real Outkast fan. I liked Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik, but it was on their sophomore album ATLiens when they switched the game up and became more than Southern pimps. Many people point to Aqumeni as better album because it received the coveted 5 mics ratings from The Source. But let’s not forget that The Source has shafted many deserving albums of the prestigious rating (ex. Ready To Die, The Chronic, etc.). Unlike Aquemini, ATLiens really has no shortcomings; I can play that album all the way through. While Aquemini is a great album, it still has songs like “Mamacita” (See: Bad Songs By Great Rappers). It was also on ATLiens where Outkast ventured out and started producing tracks on their own; without this you couldn’t even get the Outkast you see today (Not Idlewild Outkast, The Love Below/Speakerboxxx Outkast). While their first album kicked in the door, it was ATLiens that really shined light on Atlanta and the South in general. Now, if you a youngster that just jumped aboard the Outkast wagon during Stankonia, I’ll understand if you vote Aquemini, but if you were there with Outkast from day one, you know that ATLiens is the better album. Example/Download: “Two Dope Boyz (In a Cadillac)”

People, what is so gay about this cover? Stunna is Weezy’s daddy. The problem with them being so affectionate towards each other is a lot of us don’t know fatherly love. Maybe Birdman has been a daddy to Wayne and that dude just giving him his due. However the cover is gangsta! That is HIP-HOP!

B-Easy’s Pick: Gay

The problem with this cover is that Birdman is not Lil’ Wayne’s daddy. What’s up with all the tattoos of each other (Birdman has Weezy on his chest; Wayne has “Baby” on his arm). With all the rumors of homosexuality and pictures of them kissing each other on the internet, why did XXL feel the need to put them on their 10thAnniversary issue with their shirts off?

Wow, this one shouldn’t even be close. Ciara is not in the same league as Keyshia. Okay maybe she can dance better, but that is where the buck stops. Keyshia’s face looks better, body is better, and can sing circles around Ciara. Look at the photos (except that Vibe cover of Ciara, photoshoped!) Ms. Cole is killing her. Ciara has the body of a 15 yr old…boy! While on the other hand, Keyshia has a nice body for a girl with a small frame. To top it off, Keyshia is from the Bay, and all of you know that those Oakland girls got it going on! Shout out to Pinky! I’m sorry I had to do this to him, but he asked for it. Did Keyshia ever have rumors about her being a transvestite, no; her womanhood has never been in question. The defense rests!

Damn, that’s fucked up. King Jerm is right about one thing, Ciara and Keyshia aren’t in the same league. In the race for top R&B chick, Keyshia Cole is not even in the running right now (Of course Beyonce is on top). Let’s look at awards: Ciara has over 14 awards including Grammy, MTV, & Soul Train. Keyshia I think has 1 Vibe award. Let’s not even go into who has the most album sales. I’ll be real with ya’ll, Keyshia Cole is cute. But she is probably the girl I would’ve snuck under the bleaches with in high school. Ciara is the girl I would of taken to the prom (Hey, she was cheerleader). Cole may have the bigger rack, but what Ciara lacks in booty or chest, she makes up for it by knowing how to use what she has. Didn’t Keyshia Cole say drug dealers used to pay for her to sing for them? You think that’s all the dealers bought? For some reason I think Miss Cole might have been ran through. Ciara is pretty, classier, and has that sweet girl charm that can be very sexy (Check out the “Promise” video)…well she is rumored to be messing with 50 Cent now. Fuck that, Ciara is still hotter.

Call me crazy, but I like thick girls. That is why Princess is killing Diamond right now. Yeah Diamond kind of cute, but she too thin! But that isn’t all she has either. She got a cute face, some nice lips, and some sexy eyes. Yeah Diamond is in the press a lot lately, because of her antics, which got her face out there. But it’s something mysterious about the more subdued Princess. She leaves something for the imagination. Princess is more mature and more laid back, the kind of girl you chill with. With Diamond, you never know when you might have to come to fisticuffs with someone or her for that matter.

Is this even a contest? Let’s get this argument over quickly. In the July issue of Vibe magazine, they listed the “25 Sexiest Celebs”. This is a list that had Beyonce at #1. Did you see Princess on that list? No, but Diamond was (ranked at #25). Even Crime Mob’s wack ass videos look like they could be hers; it’s like she’s the one who they feature the most (Ex. “Rock Yo Hips”). Let’s not forget that she has that Lil’ Kim swag going; her assets may not be the thickest, but her attitude still makes her comes across just as fly. Shit, in a time where female rappers are almost extinct, she might be in the top 5 right now. Let’s be real people, Diamond is the face of Crime Mob; that other girl and the rest are more like a back up singers.

Let’s look at a stat line: 25 pts and 11 rebs. That sounds like a dominant player, don’t you agree? This is just a one reason why Kevin Durant should be a #1 pick. Not only did he win the Naismith Award, he also won every other collegiate award offered. He led his conference in scoring, something Oden failed to do. He also played the whole season. This man is NBA ready. There is no 3-5 year window for him to learn the game. Yes, he is on the thin side, but with the right trainer he will gain that muscle he needs. The knock about him not lifting 185 lbs is nonsense; he only has to lift 1.5 lbs! If you want an impact player this season, take Durant. If you want another project in the making, take Oden. With the NBA shifting gears toward big men being playmakers, the big man in the middle may be obsolete. Oden is the player of yesterday, Durant is the player of the future. With Nike putting up 60 million on Durant and Oden only drawing 12 million, that shows you who the more marquee player is.

King Jerm’s Pick: Greg Oden

Greg Oden is 7 feet tall and 250 lbs of straight beast. How many times does a gem like him come by? Let’s not forget that he played most of the season with his offhand! The guy injures his right wrist, and develops his left wrist while rehabbing his right wrist. His stat line isn’t as dominant as Durant’s; 15 pts 9 rebs, but his impact carried his team to the National Championship. Did we forget the 25 and 12 he put on the Gators. The guy isn’t pure offense like Durant, but he is a GAMECHANGER on defense. Oden averages over 3 blocks a game! Yes, he may have to adjust to the NBA game, but who doesn’t. Taking a 7 foot man-child number one isn’t such a bad idea, especially one with the potential of Greg Oden. Look back in the past at previous overall number one picks: Yao, Tim, Shaq, David, Ewing, and Olajuwon are a few that come to mind that were picked before some scoring machines. There is no guarantee that Durant will shred defenses like he did in college, but Oden will still grab those boards and block those same shots. If you’re all about hype, go with Kevin. But if you want substance, your obvious choice is Greg Oden.

King Jerm vs. B-Easy In this debate, we take at look at two stars of Flavor of Love 2 and Charm School: Shay “Buckeey” Johnson and Larissa “Bootz” Aurora. After many arguments between King Jerm and B-Easy about which woman is better, it was time to take this argument to nappyafro.com. Not saying that any of these chicks are wifey material (Remember, they were on Flavor of Love!), but between Buckeey and Bootz; who is the hottest?

When Shay “Buckeey” Johnson steps out, the girls steps out. Not only does she have that down ass chick vibe, shorty is fly, for real! Shay is the total package. The lips, the booty, her smile, and the fact that she’s from the “A!” Bootz is hot, but her attitude and her childish ways take away from her looks. I like an attitude in a woman, but Bootz is outrageous. Let’s not forget the fact that Bootz didn’t hold her girl down in the end. Overall, Bootz might have the better body, but the better package is Buckeey!

Yea right! What’s wrong with a girl with an attitude? You wanna talk about the total package? Larissa “Bootz” Aurora is the total package. Have you seen those eyes, thighs, breasts, and booty? Like King Jerm said, Bootz has the better body. She might have not held Shay down on Charm School, but if Buckeey would have stuck to the script, it wouldn’t have been problem. I’m not a hater, Shay is kinda hot, I just can’t forget how she was all over Flava Flav’s nuts on Flavor Of Love 2. Okay, all the girls on that show were, but at least Bootz told Flav that he wasn’t getting no ass. If you ain’t no punk and can handle a strong woman, Bootz is the obvious choice.
