Top 10 Hip-Hop Albums Of 2006

by King Jerm

10.  Me, Myself, And I by Fat Joe

“Coca Baby” switched his style and went southpaw on this joint. Joe flowing like he done stole Pun’s rhyme book!

9.  Release Therapy by Ludacris

Luda tries to dismiss his cartoonish image on this album. Luda shows some growth on this one, penning songs like “Runaway Love” and “Freedom of Preach”.

8.  Separate But Equal by Little Brother & DJ Drama

This is probably overall one of the best offerings in the Gangsta Grillz series. This album makes you wonder why they didn’t put some of this heat on their debut to the masses.

7.  Doctor’s Advocate by The Game

The guy that gave the west coast “mouth to mouth”, came back with a solid album to put an end to talk of a sophomore slump. Let’s be honest here, you know Dr. Dre ghost produced on this album.

6.  The Inspiration by Young Jeezy

Young Jeezy aka the “Coke King”, hits us with another serving of “Trap Music”. You know this one is the number one album on the block.

5.  Like Father, Like Son  by Birdman & Lil’ Wayne

Stunna and Weezy F. come strong on their highly anticipated debut. For some reason, I think that Baby has stolen Weezy’s rhymebook! Check out Weezy on “Army Gunz”, enough said.

4.  Hip Hop Is Dead by Nas

“Retro” Nas on this album. It seems as if he is trying to take it back to the essence again. Nas gives his fans some of his best music. Well, not his best, but best in a while.

3.  Dedication 2 by Lil’ Wayne & DJ Drama

This has been one heck of a year for Weezy F. Not only did he have the best mixtape of the year, which I think was better than a lot of dudes’ albums. Wayne has really stepped his game up on this one. A definite must have.

2.  Kingdome Come by Jay-Z

Jay-Hova comes back with his third out of retirement album. This one aimed more at the older crowd that has grown up with him. He isn’t going for the clubs with this one, just the grown and sexy. Might be a little hard for the youngsters to digest.

1.  King by T.I.

Atlanta’s own king returns to the lab and cooks up his fourth solo album. Now this album was probably the strongest album of the year. But with more hits than misses, you have to crown the “Rubberband Man” the champ.
