Bottom Line:
That was actually a pretty good album. This is one you can put in while you cleaning the house and let it run through.

"Soul Musiq"

Wow, Musiq is one of those very few artist that you just can’t hate. I mean, don’t get me wrong, he makes wonderful music and has a very unique style but I’m just not a big musiq fan. I’ll be as fair as I can on this one because this album wasn’t actually that bad.

Musiq seems to have a way with words. Besides his interesting topics, the way he spells things out in his songs and (my favorite) the way he doesn’t believe in spaces in his song titles. I guess that’s what makes him Musiq. After listening to this album twice, it was like how I pretty much expected: smooth, laid back, a little different from the average R&B commercial sounding stuff these days. Neo-soul! I’m impressed.

I like his single “Buddy”. It kinda sounded like something I heard De La Soul do a couple of years ago.(with the way his voice sounded in the beginning.)  He got Ne-Yo to co-write with him on “ms.philadelphia”. That’s a plus. I loved “teachme” and “betterman” just sounded like it was missing something. “thequestions”, I wasn’t feeling at all, while “today” was another slow jam from ya boy but I’m not hating. “makeyouhappy” has a pretty hot bangin’ beat to it not to mention it’s a pretty hot track. I actually was feeling “ridiculous” though it sounded like some rapper was gonna jump on there with him at the bridge. “millionaire” was the junk for me! I could listen to that all day. “takeyouthere” last-dance-at-the-prom-slow. It’s ok but not my favorite and he should of left that adlib out in the hook. Don’t everyone love a nice lullaby every once in a while? I think this is the adult’s lullaby with...“lullaby”. I like it, another sweet song to send the ladies on cloud nine thinking a lot of men are like that for real. Last but not least, “greatestlove” is a great song to end the album with I’ll say. It seems to have an old school sound to it, kinda like that kind of music your folks listened to back in the days before someone was about to rock the boat a little. That’s my opinion, though. Not bad, not bad at all.

Bottom Line:
That was actually a pretty good album. This is one you can put in while you cleaning the house and let it run through.
