Alt-Day Sunday: Dolly Parton

You guys, did you know that there are several legends still living in 2020? Did you know that their music is on streaming services so you can listen and learn why there are legends? I knew I just blew your minds with those fun facts, but follow me as I tell you about today’s Alt-Day Sunday. Two weeks ago, I randomly said to myself, Dolly Parton is a legendary singer and songwriter, but I only know here for “9 To 5” and “I Will Always Love You.” I decided to hop on my Tidal and download one of her albums. I randomly selected her sophomore album, Just Because I’m A Woman.

Released in 1968 and the themes of love, fame, gender equality, and complicated relationships are still as relevant today. I’m picking track dos, “I Wish I Felt This Way At Home,” written by Harlan Howard, because Dolly is talking ish about the benefits of having a side-piece while being remorseful of the husband she has at home. Only legends can remain humble while receivng gifts. Ms Parton, here are your flowers. Happy Sunday!

Recently, it was mentioned on the latest FROCAST, that for Ms. Parton’s 75th birthday, she wants to be on the cover of Playboy magazine again. She graced the front page of the Hugh Hefner created periodical back in 1978 as the first Country singer to be on the cover with once they agreed upon a strict no-nudity clause. Ay Playboy, y’all got till January 19th 2021, make it happen! Be safe everyone.
