With the bad taste that Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice left in (mostly) everyone’s mouth, and the positive early reviews that Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War seem to be getting, it feels like DC’s new cinematic universe needs a good rebound. Suicide Squad may be the movie that can do this.
Even though this is the film’s third trailer, there’s still a lot of new stuff to take in. It seems like The Joker is in the movie way more than I thought. We also get to see new shot of Ben Affleck as Batman (Maybe the best thing out of Batman v Superman). Hell, there’s even mention Superman.
Like the trailers before, it’s cleverly scored by a catchy remake (This time it’s Lesley Gore’s “You Don’t Own Me” and then the original version of The Sweet’s “The Ballroom Blitz”). That first Suicide Squad trailer is still one of the best trailers I have ever seen, but this one is good too.
In a year full of superhero movies that includes Deadpool, Batman v Superman, X-Men: Apocalypse, Captain America: Civil War, & Dr. Strange, Suicide Squad is still my most anticipated. In theaters August 5th.
