Nas & Biggie

With the arrival of Jadakiss’s album, Top 5 Dead or Alive, Jada is bringing up this age old debate on who are the top 5 best rappers. In promotion of this album he has been recording his conversations in several barbershops in New York about who they think the top 5 rappers are. I thought I would add my top 5 favorite rappers, and start the never ending debate. I also added some of my favorite and legendary songs and verses from each artist. What rappers do y’all think should be Top 5? Let us know in the comments section.

      • Clobes

boy, biggie with 2 albums, idk about that, dre has more verses than big ever did

        • Davillah

Dre had ghostwriters, that doesn’t count. Big was the sound of New York, nobody was touching him. You not feeling Jay at all ? or Pac ?

          • Clobes

Ill feel jay, but honestly past 03, idk, andre is to me incredibly creative and just an amazing ARTIST, pac probably my number 6

          • Davillah

            Eminem ????

          • Clobes

Haha You know I hate Em.

Dude needs to chill on the domestic abuse, and mommy issues, we get it, you lived in a trailer park.

          • Clobes

also, kanye was better than jay on watch the throne, in my eyes jays features were rarely legendary

          • Davillah

To me he took more time creating legendary albums rather than legendary features, but i agree your features have to have some say in how great you are, thats why I have Jadakiss up there. No such a thing as a bad Kiss verse

          • Clobes

Hell yeah, kiss of death top 20/top 10 even album wise.

          • B-Easy

You do Kanye also had ghostwriters right? Dude came in the game with ghostwriters. Shout out to Rhymefest.

          • Clobes

Kanye, is also one of my top 5 producers, like Andre, as an artist, this man is a legend in his own right.

          • B-Easy

Yeah and when we do the Top 5 Dead or Alive Producers I’m sure Kanye will be there. But this is for the elite rappers. If you need other people writing your lyrics, you shouldn’t be in this list.

    Scarface
    Kendrick Lamar
    Redman
    2Pac
    Kanye West

    • Clobes

Redman, never saw that one before honestly.

      • RTIII

Not even his first 3 albums?

        • Clobes

Idk, he never caught on with me, until he started to collab with method.

          • RTIII

Oh Okay. To me, he’s always been dope to me, it doesn’t matter whether it’s just him by himself or doing collabos/Blackout with Method Man.

          • RTIII

My bad, I meant the Blackout albums with Method Man.

          • Clobes

Those albums were mad nice though.

          • RTIII

            I agree with you.

    • Rickjamesbitch

      Redman is incredibly slept on.

      • RTIII

Yeah, and it’s crazy at the same time.

      • RTIII

He deserves more recognition than what he’s gotten already.

    Jay Z
    Biggie
    Nas
    Ice Cube
    Andre 3000

  • Rickjamesbitch

Man, I understand that this is your opinion, but if you’re gonna have someone as unqualified as Jadakiss on your top 5 list you should provide some better reasoning behind it. You really taking him over Common, Black Thought, Ghostface, Pac, Big L, Eminem, and host of other rappers who are just flat out better or have a MUCH better discography?

    • Clobes

Black thought is easily the best rapper out of philly, although I like common, never loved him, i’d take rae over ghost, big L sadly died too young, but his two albums are nothing short of amazing. I see Eminem’s appeal, but I can’t sit and listen too him, his music, too me, is above average at best, and pac, should honestly replace big on the list
