Mo Meta Blues

Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson – Mo’ Meta Blues: The World According to Questlove
Release Date: June 18, 2013 ~ 288 Pages

Questlove’s memoir does what it’s suppose to and reveals some personal and interesting things about The Roots’ drummer. What makes it different is that he uses music to timestamp moments in his life even listing a soundtrack for the readers after some chapters. Besides having a vast knowledge of music, he also has a great memory for those time when music impacted his life (Which seems to be all the time). It’s parts where it gets a little wordy and the times when his longtime manager jumps in with footnotes can be a bit much. Still, the book is a must read for not only for Hip-Hop/The Roots fans but for music lovers in general.

Notable Moment: The time when he saw Prince wearing light up roller-skates at a semi abandoned skating rink. Of course Prince was an excellent skater. Oh yeah, and Eddie Murphy was there too.

Should you read it?: Like I said, a must for music fans.
