The Numbers Game: Whitney Houston & Adele

First off, it goes without saying that Whitney Houston‘s fans showed support at the register for the recently deceased icon. Not only did her Greatest Hits album rise back into the Top 10, but arguably her famous song, “I Will Always Love You”, sold 195,000 digital copies (It sold only 607 the week before). Since Whitney Houston just passed on Sunday, it’s probably a safe bet that we’ll see an sales increase next week.

Ironically, Adele‘s 21 matched the record set by Whitney Houston’s Bodyguard soundtrack with having 20 weeks at the #1 spot on the charts. All this and she’ll get a boost in sales next week after winning 6 Grammy awards this past Sunday. Plus she has pushed over 6 million copies. 6 million albums! In this day and time, selling that amount of records is almost unheard of. Did I mention that he debut album, 19, is also #9 on the charts? Yea, that too.
