R.I.P. J Dilla

February 7 1974 – February 10 2006

Six years ago we lost one of the greatest producers in the Hip-Hop community, James Yancey also known as J Dilla. Jay Dee was known for working with Hip-Hop greats The Pharcyde, Common, A Tribe Called Quest, Busta Rhymes, & The Roots to name a few. He was also part of the group Slum Village, and formed Jaylib with Madlib. In my opinion, J Dilla is one of the top five producers of all time. I always admired his ability to chop samples so cleanly, and how his drums were constantly on point. Another thing I must mention about Dilla was how he was still making some of his best beats just months before he passed away. Check for his posthumous album Rebirth Of Detroit scheduled for a May release date. Dilla lives…
