Our Favorite Movies Of Summer 2011

Since the summer movie season is now officially over, and I’m a big movie head – Check me out, I asked some of nappyafro members what was there favorites from the 2011 summer movie season. Feel free to add your own in the comments section – B-Easy

H20‘s Pick: Super 8
Runner up: Horrible Bosses
Of all the movies I saw this summer, Super 8 was the only one that really stood out for me. Maybe it was the hype, the mystery, the old classic feel the movie gave. It’s that feeling you get at the end of a movie where you walk out and realize, that was a good couple hours spent. Super 8 was the perfect balance of action, comedy, and drama that kept me hooked till the end.

B-Easy‘s Pick: Attack The Block
Runner up: Red State
Attack The Block was a surprise to me because going into the summer because I had no knowledge of it. But after seeing the movie, I definitely had the feeling that in later years, it could easily be a cult classic. It’s like The Goonies plus Boyz N Da Hood…with aliens.

Saule Wright‘s Pick: Horrible Bosses
Runner up: Rango
I don’t see many movies…in theaters anyway…so I don’t have too much to add. The only movies I’ve seen this year were Rango and Horrible Bosses. Both were dope and Horrible Bosses is one of the funniest comedies I’ve seen in YEARS. If you’ve had a job, and you’ve had a boss that was less than stellar, this is your movie. Shout out to the 5 months at a national furniture rental chain.

King Jerm‘s Pick: Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes
Runner up: X-Men: First Class
If Black people had a leader like Ceasar, we’d be better off. Plus Magneto was that nigga.
