The Numbers Game: Watch The Throne Is #1 + Ace Hood, Royce Da 5’9″, Gucci Mane, & Waka Flocka Flame

It wasn’t a surprise to anyone that Watch The Throne topped the charts this week (Especially when news broke that it had broken iTunes single-week sales record). Jay-Z & Kanye West‘s album sold 436,100 in it’s first week. While there’s a lot of controversy about how good Watch The Throne actually is, everybody can agree that it’s release may be the blueprint on future album releases (No early leaks, pop-up store, etc.). Ace Hood released his third album last week with Blood, Sweat & Tears. Not only did Ace make it in the Top 10 for first time in his career, he also had his best first-week sales with 26,000 albums sold. Every since seeing his interview with The Breakfast Club, I’ve been rooting for Ace. This shows he’s gaining more fans and hopefully won’t get another eviction note on his door anytime soon. [Check out our review of Ace Hood’s Blood, Sweat & Tears here]

Jay & Yeezy weren’t the only Hip-Hop duo to release an album last week. Gucci Mane & Waka Flocka Flame‘s Ferrari Boyz album lands at #21 and sells 16,800 units in it’s first week. While the album got overshadowed this week on the charts, I’m sure it’s #1 in a lot of Southern hoods.  [Check out our review of  Gucci Mane & Waka Flocka Flame’s Ferrari Boyz here]

Royce Da 5’9″ released 5th solo album Success Is Certain. The album sold 15,900 copies & grabbed the #25 spot. You gotta hand it to Royce, he has two albums currently in the Top 25 and will probably go on to sign to Shady Records as a solo artists now that he’s done with his obligations with Gracie Productions. [Check out our review of  Royce Da 5’9″ – Success Is Certain here]

Seriously Ace Hood needs to do something

  • Is it true that Jay and Kanye beefing?

I knew the two egos wouldn’t be able to handle it.

    • P-Body

That’s what they say and I’m not surprised at all. So who knows though. Jay is all about himself all the time and Kanye have a spoil brat female attitude so it was all a matter of time before the two clashed.

    • P-Body

That’s what I heard too and I’m definitely not surprised. Kanye diva attitude would make you want to slap the shit out of him in the studio. I really can’t stand Kanye attitude now, he really show his feminine ways.

C’mon son, beefin’ don’t mean it’s all over. Hell, even DX had beef at times. lol

Jay-Z & Kanye probably bought most of the records themselves. People forget record labels and artist buy their own material. I’m sorry but I’m just not that impressed with that Watch The Throne shit, I mean it is good but it is nowhere near being great like some people make it out to be.

I agree with P, Ace definitely need to do something for sure.

Dang, Royce sold over 10,000 more than he did with his last solo album, not bad for such little promotion.
I’m honestly shocked Jay and Ye didn’t sell more, this album sold less than BP3 and MBDTF, a win’s a win though..

For some reason when I post my comment it don’t show up but now it does! Smh!

I went through that yesterday, while I was trying to send you a question.
