The Numbers Game: Maybach Music Is #5 + Gaga Does A Million

It’s been almost two months but I’m back and so is The Numbers Game. Okay let’s go…

Of course the big news this week (In terms of album sales) is Lady Gaga‘s new album Born This Way pushing 1 million copies in it’s first week. Also note that her last album, The Fame, is still hanging around in the Top 50. While this is all a great accomplishment for Gaga, especially in this day and age of plummeting record sales, it must be pointed out that Amazon was selling the entire Born This Way for 99 cents. Still, Lady Gaga got fans.

M-m-m-m-m-m-m-Maybach Music Group‘s Self Made Vol. 1 compilation hit the stores last week and sold around 60,000 units. Even though Ricky Rozay and company did hella promotion for this album, this is about what I figured it would do in terms of sales. It’s not a bad showing though. [Check out King Jerm’s review of Maybach Music Group – Self Made Vol. 1 here]

I saw JadakissI Love You mixtape on iTunes and was kinda confused (You can still get it from DatPiff for the free). Either way, 11,000 fans still showed support and bought the “official mixtape”; that’s better first week sells than a lotta rappers do with official albums. I spoke about this already in my return speech, but yea, I thought it was a pretty bad outing from Kiss.

Eminem is still on the charts!? That is crazy but awesome at the same time.

Lady Gaga be doing some numbers. Akon is getting mad paid right now and a matter of fact if I was him I wouldn’t even think about doing another album again. I need to find a artist like her and just push the hell out of her.

Everybody on the list is doing either good numbers or decent numbers on the charts. I thought Maybach would at least do 80k or something with all the hype around it, I guess people don’t really support him much like you would think.

    • Compilations really don’t sell that well anyway.

  • Rickjamesbitch

I mean MMG doesnt have a music video out or anything so they did good all things considered, it’s double Wale’s debut. And it looks like Em’s about to go 4x Platinum.. DANG!

    • Maybach Musc Group put out like 5 music videos for Self Made Vol. 1 already.

      • We talking about a 106 & Park style video….not a street video.

        • There’s a difference?

          • Uh…yeah….

          • Rickjamesbitch

I mean everyone doesn’t use the internet for videos but if your video is on 106 people have a much higher chance of seeing it. I didn’t even know they had 5, I just saw the one for Pandemonium.

  • I’m curious, hows PL3DGE selling? any numbers?

fuck Gaga btw. that music makes me hate life.

    • I know he only did like 5K the first week. *sad face*

I really wanted KM to do good numbers. Hell..I even talked 2 people at Best Buy into buying the album. I did my part.

      • I just typed PL3DGE into google and Saule’s review was link #3 (behind amazon and hiphopdx, 5 notches above MTV). its so hard to tell whats good/bad/normal anymore. you’d think Mike would be hollerin’ at us harder if we’re really the third link….but anyhow….

Bilboard had it starting at #105, now at #115…..cleared 4,300 units….damn, I wish I was reading that wrong.

Youre right J, theres only so much we can do…I’m gunna go buy it myself this week to show support. it’ll be the first hardcopy of a CD I’ve bought since Carter 3
