The Numbers Game: Maybach Music Is #5 + Gaga Does A Million

It’s been almost two months but I’m back and so is The Numbers Game. Okay let’s go…

Of course the big news this week (In terms of album sales) is Lady Gaga‘s new album Born This Way pushing 1 million copies in it’s first week. Also note that her last album, The Fame, is still hanging around in the Top 50. While this is all a great accomplishment for Gaga, especially in this day and age of plummeting record sales, it must be pointed out that Amazon was selling the entire Born This Way for 99 cents. Still, Lady Gaga got fans.

M-m-m-m-m-m-m-Maybach Music Group‘s Self Made Vol. 1 compilation hit the stores last week and sold around 60,000 units. Even though Ricky Rozay and company did hella promotion for this album, this is about what I figured it would do in terms of sales. It’s not a bad showing though. I saw JadakissI Love You mixtape on iTunes and was kinda confused (You can still get it from DatPiff for the free). Either way, 11,000 fans still showed support and bought the “official mixtape”; that’s better first week sells than a lotta rappers do with official albums. I spoke about this already in my return speech, but yea, I thought it was a pretty bad outing from Kiss.
