With the arrival of Mtv’s new reality show, Son of a Gun, I thought it only right to help catch up our readers on Cory Gunz. As the show pointed out, Gunz is the son of rapper Peter Gunz who had a big hit in the 90’s called “Uptown Baby“. In 2004 the young Gunner started to amass some buzz with his YouTube grind and the release of critically acclaimed mixtapes Right before the end of Rocafella, Memphis Bleek hinted at Gunz becoming the newest member of the ROC gang. Although the split between Dame and Jay seeming killed that possibility, Jay still reached out and helped sign the emcee to Def Jam. Like many artist who get signed to Def Jam, Cory Gunz never got a fair shot. He appeared on the original version of Wayne’s “A Milli” in 2008, but for whatever reason Wayne took Cory off of the version that he released (many people claim Wayne didn’t want people to claim Cory Renegaded him on his own shit). Now Cory Gunz has found a home with Young Money and is getting reality show money. Gunz not only has an incredible flow, but is also lyrical, something hard to find nowadays. Anyway I am not trying to give you his life story check out the music and the Youtube vids. Is Cory Gunz the next Emcee to bring New York back?
