Even though MTV dropped the full list on Sunday, I’m still playing catch up (As you can tell from the lack of posts I been kinda busy). Of course Eminem not making the list jumps out at most people; Relapse sold 600,000 in it’s first week, I think that probably should be considered hot (Em is definitely hotter that Raekwon). Here’s the full list and the videos. What do you think? Sidenote: I told you idiots Jay-Z would top the list!

    MTV List = BS, period. I knew this list was off when I saw Gucci Mane placed above Raekwon. I mean, the only one comparable to The Chef is Jigga. This list cannot just be based off of successful albums either when you think about it; OB4CL2 is definitely a banger but there really has been no commercial promotion for the album. Drake hasn’t even released an album so this list cannot logically be based on success in the game. I hope they are not going by lyrics either because this list is just ridiculous. It’s like they threw some rappers’ names in a hat and reached in and pulled out some of the names. Crazy

    No T.I. and no Em is bullshit. Ross at 5, Wayne at 2, and Jeezy on the list is ridiculous. Jeezy hasn’t done shit all year, Wayne has barley did anything, and Ross should be 9 at best.

        T.I. is still hotter than the majority of the list even though he is locked up. This list is suppose to be from the past year. T.I. had the best album in that time span, sold a lot, had super high charting singles, and laid heat on another people’s tracks. “Ain’t I,” “day dreaming,” “wish you would,” “just like me,” “hi hater remix,” etc. He even had mixtapes. Before the list came out, I would have been shocked to not see T.I. in the top 3 but him not being on it at all is just plain bs.

      I liked Relapse but, the list wasn’t even about lyrics, it was about “hotness” and when you’ve got the highest selling album of the year you deserve to be on the list.

    1. Jay-Z, deserves got 3 hit singles album could sell more than any other this year
    2. Lil Wayne, fake ass cunt rock star-wannabees shouldnt even be considered, especially when they stop making rap songs
    3. Drake, biggest new thing in any genre of music
    4. Kanye West, went R&B for an album, but had some big features, should go lower
    5. Rick Ross, are you fuckin kidding? album wont go gold, got exposed as being a fake ass fag, and had one significant charting song
    6. Gucci Mane, might as well put Soulja Boy and OJ da Juiceman on here
    7. Young Jeezy, had a great ’08, but that shouldn’t put him on the list this year where he hasn’t done much
    8. Fabolous, couple of hit songs, deserving of low spot
    9. 50 cent, biggest thing he’s done has put Ross on blast, and had couple flopped singles shouldn’t be here
    10. Raekwon, if your list is based off of commercial hype then why are you putting a guy with a critically acclaimed album on here that won’t sell much?

    where the fuck is Eminem and his currently highest selling rap album of the year?

    Kid Cudi had a ground breaking album and 2 big hits

    Jadakiss had a strong album without releasing anything in 5 years

    Busta Rhymes wasn’t big but is more deserving of Ross and Gucci and Raekwon if based off of popularity

    if your gonna put someone who sucks like Gucci Mane put Soulja Boy on instead who’s just as bad and has had more hype this year

    Well they did say “Hot” MCs so the problem I have with this list is the MCs that aren’t hot. Jeezy isn’t hot right now, 50 DEFINITELY isn’t hot right now, Ye aint hot at all, and Fabolous is lukewarm right now. Everybody else is blazing right now.

    Jay-Z – The king, stayin at that status, but Blueprint 3 was not at his level
    Drake – Hottest new artist in Forever…pun intended
    Kanye – Killin features and dropped 808′s and Heartbreak, that’s a good album
    Raekwon – OBFCLP2 is FIRE, Raekwon still got it
    Ludacris – Let’s not forget Theater of the Mind, that’s some good shit
    Eminem – Could be higher up, but his album was lacking, CRACK verse though!
    T.I. – In jail, but still had good tracks come out
    Fabolous – Loso’s Way had some of the year’s best production and lines
    Lil’ Wayne – Every Girl? Always Strapped? Salute? DAMN, not many hits, but…
    Busta Rhymes – OK, back on my BS was nice, and you KNOW Arab Money was nice

    Hov! But seriously Tip and Slim did get done dirty. Jeezy being on the list more than confirms that they are not basing it off the right this second now. Tip had a hot album, good success in the charts, and was everywhere between fall 08 winter 09. And Em currently has the highest selling rap album. I disagree, Ye is pretty hot right now (pause). And how bout Ye and Jada not being on Def Jam’s new cover? Roc Nation??
