The South didn’t single-handidly killy hip-hop, but for the most part, Southern rappers are bottom of the barrel. There are execeptions like Geto Boys and Scarface, Outkast, Ludacris, and some others, but most are trash and the fact that they are at the forefront of hip-hop says alot.
And how did they save hip-hop? Gaining mainstream acceptance doesn’t equal being saved. Lyrical quality, sincerity, and the topics being rapped about have all changed for the worse since around 2000, and true rap has been replaced by club hits
How to really save hip hop: acknowledge that the new stuff is really POP music, and support real artists

All the hate gotta stop! I wish people would judge the music and not the person making it. People like Soulja Boy & Rick Ross would have a much better wrap.

nipsey signing wit aftermath does sound good, but i feel if that did happen sooner or later we would be comparing him to the deathrow days of snoop and dre, and that would jus go against what this column was stressin, comparisons to legends…

i heard snoop say it best when he said what the west coast needs right now izz more niggas to step up and prove that they can put out dope musik and its not all jus dre out here. i think thats why game wanted to distance himself from dre for a min, jus to prove that he can make it on his own without dre

Only way sales can get better is if the artist make better products and also make music from the heart instead of trying to do it for sales. Sometimes albums sale you know the artist put in work to make that album different and good from the norm.

I respect Soulja Boy hustle but as far as his music, naw. Don’t feel dude music. I feel Drake is overrated, he is good but people are really putting this man high. Hopefully he’ll make a album so I can check it out.

Yeah stop blaming the south indeed. The south was hitting people heads with Outkast, Goodie Mob, Field Mob, UGK, and so forth but people wasn’t paying attention. South has just as good as albums as any coast.. In 09 all areas do need to step their game up, and thats real. Its bullshit on all coast but good shit as well, just got to find it.

I’ve always been a firm believer that hip hop is more alive now than it ever was. Before i get bashed on by that statement think about this, when hip hop first started kids weren’t listening to it, only late teens and grown men, now just about everybody has a voice in hip hop…also like H20 said:

WE HAVE TO STOP DONWLOADING ALBUMS!!!

Thats why I listen to the new cats also. I like the classics and all, but I’m a mere 14 (as I’ve said sometimes) The generation (Freshman and etc) is what my kids (And your kids too) are going to be calling the “classics” eventually (If there are)

I agree with mostly everything except I don’t much care for B.O.B. and all Kid Cudi has that’s actually hot is I Poke Her Face. Dre should co-sign Nipsey and reembrace Game, that could really bring the west back.
