Friday Night ‘Fro: Mike Tyson Documentary

fromiketysondoc

Mike Tyson is one of the most misunderstood figures in sports (And definitely in boxing). Not to say he didn’t help that; it was a self destruction that the whole world watched from the front row. When I do think about Tyson, I try not to remember the jail time, the ear biting, or even the last few fights in his career. I try remember the beast that was Iron Mike Tyson (Example). So when I heard that a documentary about Tyson direct by James Toback got a standing ovation at last year’s Cannes Film Festival, I was interested. After finally watching it earlier this week, I released how much self hate Tyson actually has. Maybe this is Mike Tyson’s chance to be recognized for his career instead of being branded a monster. Did you hear Nas’ “Legendary” off The Nigger Tape or seen the cover of Fight Night Round 4? What a way to bring back Friday Night ‘Fro huh? Tyson. Enjoy. (Updated: The last one was taken down. Here’s another…)

People like to say that Tyson couldn’t take Ali…I think he could have. Ali during one of his title reigns, Tyson at 19-22 he would do some damage to Ali. Thing is, folks forget, Tyson used to throw (i forget how many) punches in a second. He was already small, but when he ducked down, he was invisible, and he didn’t have to hit you a lot, usually one punch made you weak. The man was a beast. No doubt, my favorite fighter to see, even if the fight lasted 2 rounds.

My boy you are right. A lot of ppl argue with about that and even my dad think Tyson would have Ali some trouble. Tyson had great speed, power, killer instinct, and his size. He made his size work his advantage. Even Ali was on Arsenio Hall show back in the day and he even said Tyson would give him a run. Tyson and Sugar Ray was on the same show with Ali. Tyson is one the best heavyweights ever or best. Riddick Bowe was good too, I wish him and Tyson could’ve had a fight.
