Song of the Week: Lil’ Kim - “Big Momma Thang” (by King Jerm)
November 19, 2008 by nappyafro.com Staff
Now if you guys know anything about me, then you should know that I used to be a HUGE Lil’ Kim fan back in the day. Yeah, I was just like you had the infamous Hardcore posters on the wall. The only difference I had two, and they were autographed! Kim may have some of the nastiest lyrics that you will hear, but Kim had a “swag” about her that not too many femcees possess. At one point in time you had to name Kimberly Jones as one of the heavyweights in the game. I felt it was only fitting to make her one of the few femcees that have had SOTW. This is one of my favorite tracks off here debut album Hardcore. On this track you have Kim spitting some of the raunchiest lyrics, but the song was loved by females and males alike. I know you can never go back in time, but I wish I could. I would bring back that old Kim that we all remember and love. Let me stop playing Captain Save Em, and let you folks get what you came for. Sit back, reminisce, and enjoy this installment of Song of the Week!

Uh, isn’t Jay-Z on this song? How can you NOT mention him.
@ Big Johnson
I knew Jay was on the song, but I was waiting on one of his STANS to mention it. Congrats…you are the STAN!
um…..Jean Grae is better…that is all.
LOL
The original version of this song she disses Faith and 2Pac. I’m glad she didn’t release it because Pac already ripped them bad enough, and I wouldn’t be able to take her seriously anyways. That version wasn’t bad but after Hit’em up, I just didn’t want to hear it from her.
This is one of my favorite songs, and Jay-Z did his thang on here as well. I think Jay-Z raps better back in 96-2000 era anyways, hes good now but he ain’t like he use to be. I don’t expect him to be like that anymore since times changed.
Hardcore was a really good album anyways, the production was nice. I was mad that Notorious B.I.G. didn’t rap on that album, he only made a small appearance on certain songs which wasn’t enough for me. That album would have been so much better if Biggie was on that thing more, but Kim did held it down though.
