XXL’s “The 10 Freshmen” Covers (by B-Easy)

Today I finally saw the covers for December’s XXL, and you know what? They aren’t bad at all (Way better than last year’s “Leaders Of The New School”). It features Wale, B.o.B., Asher Roth, Charles Hamilton, Cory Gunz, Blu, Mickey Factz, Ace Hood, Curren$y, & Kid Cudi. Now, let’s look at this list again: I fucks with Wale, B.o.B., & Asher Roth. I’m happy for Curren$y since everyone counted him out when he left Lil’ Wayne’s crew. I listened to Below The Heavens, but other than that I haven’t really listened to much of Blu’s music. I’m still kinda up in the air about Charles Hamilton. Mickey Factz & Cory Gunz got skills, but I need to listen to them more (Even though they have tons of music out). The same goes for Kid Cudi (I’ve only really heard a few tracks). Oh, and as for Ace Hood? Really? Did XXL owe DJ Khaled a favor? But all in all, the cover/covers (It seems to be a foldout) are kinda dope; you can only put Lil’ Wayne on the covers so many times. What do you all think? Did they missed anybody or should they have left off anybody? (Full Covers Below)
B.o.B. is the future, same with Wale and Asher Roth. I pretty much like all of them except Ace Hood, who just alright.
B.O.B. is wack, saw him at Rock the Bells this year. Wasn’t too impressed. Wale has potential, saw him there too. Out of the whole line-up, Blu is the best emcee.
I dunno about Asher Roth or Charles Hamilton.
Asher is a gimmick and Charles is probably one of the most talented of these dudes, but I can not listen to his flow.
Kinda funny that Ace Hood made it.
Asher Roth is easily the best out of all of these, and the one with the most chance of blowing up.
I Majorly Fucks Wit B.O.B. and Wale. Those two definitely deserved it.
Asher Roth And Charles Hamiliton are both novelty rappers… Neither will ever make a “good” album.
Cory Gunz can freestyle, but when was the last time we heard a Cory Gunz track? I dont think I ever have…
Blu bores the shit outta me for the most part, like Common…
I dont know shit about Mikey Factz or Kid Cudi. Heard of em both, but never heard their music.
Ace Hood and Curren$y are on the same level to me…. Both of them can really spit, but neither is a standout like that…. What’s up with all the Ace Hood hate!? He can go at some necks!
As for who should be on there, Ya Boy is the only person i can think of that NEEDS to be on here…. I’m patiently awaiting my man to blow up.
I’ll jam out to Wale and Michey Factz anyday. These two got skill
@ v-g….ya boy has def put in major work plus alot of it was quality not just quanity…..i think asher roth is the most talented overall emcee…..ace hood is overlooked lyrically sometimes cuz hes w/ khaled…..he has a nice ass verse on “we global” on that rack standing on the mountain top…check it out
Come on. Those of you who are sleeping on Asher Roth must not have really listened to his mixtape or that a millie freestyle (which he straight up murks). I think they made a really good list for once.
Wale, Charles Hamilton, Blu, Mickey Factz is cool with me……but my Drake is way better than most of these guys if not all of them

Damn, I can’t believe I forgot my nigga Drake! This nigga woulda made this list and @ Boricua, you’re right. Ya Boy been droppin PLENTY for his fans and it’s very consistent. BTW there’s a video for “Shoebox” if you haven’t seen it.
O and don’t get me wrong, Asher Roth can rap, but he’s not gonna blow up nor release an sucessful album… sorry to be pessimistic, but im just not seeing it for him.
