The Numbers Game: T.I. Is Still #1 & Jeezy Hits Gold (by B-Easy)
October 16, 2008 by nappyafro.com Staff

You know, looking at that picture of T.I. & Jeezy made me think: Hip-Hop really lives in the South (Well at least right now). Think about it, other than The Game’s L.A.X., all of 2008’s big sellers have all called the South home. Lil’ Wayne, T.I., & Young Jeezy (In that order) have all had the biggest albums of the year. Now, I’m not saying that only album sales matter, but I’m just saying (Especially with 50, Jigga, & Kanye dropping albums in the 4th Quarter). Well, this week we see T.I. stay at the top spot and almost push 200,000 copies of Paper Trail. We also see Jeezy go certified Gold with The Recession in just 6 weeks. Devin The Dude makes a debut barely in the Top 50 with his new album Landing Gear. What’s funny about this is that he almost sold as much as ex-Destiny’s Child member Michelle Williams (Who also made a debut this week). What else? The Game’s album L.A.X. should go Gold next week since he’s only 3,000 copies away. Nas’ Untitled is finally at…400,000 copies sold (Which just plain messed up since that is one of the best albums this year). On a brighter side, I think Nelly’s music career is almost dead; so I guess that’s something.

damn B-Easy, why you always hating on Nelly?
T.I is slowing down: that’s a huge drop from last week…
WTF at Nas not going gold yet…
And Weezy is amazing…still in the Top 20…damn.
I am relieved that Nelly is falling off the charts, another ugh worthy rapper we can ignore.
Nas needs more loyal fans.
Lil Wayne is still on the charts, dude is doing his thing. I was a big fan of him during the Hot Boys days besides B.G.z
T.I. is that nigga mane. He is really doing damn thing fa sho.
I wish Nas would have went Platinum but at this point I don’t think Nas really care since he have a solid fan base.
Nelly, hmmmmm. I’m just not a fan of his stuff at all, he has no content, and if he try to do it the shit just don’t sound right. Its a few songs I liked by Nelly during 2000-2001 era but that is it.
Congrats to Young Jeezy even though I thought that album could have been better.
I hope Devin The Dude push more units, that dude is underrated as fuck. Repping the south the fullest big baby!
aren’t 2nd weeks always a huge drop though, pretty much everybody who was gonna buy it buys it first week, then from then on its people who are late on the bandwagon and studios buying up copies

maybe a game 6 celtics vs hawks playoff game? reppin the 617 i will gladly import my music from other cities and keep my sports teams, but it would be cool seeing those guys @ the game..
