Songs of the Week: 50 Cent, T.I., Jake One, & Little Brother

Once again I’m doing Song of the Week, and once again, I can’t choose one singular song. Well, this week we have a spectrum of different Hip-Hop to counter this. First up, earlier this week, 50 Cent released a track off his upcoming Before I Self Destruct called “Get Up”. 50 hooks up with Scott Storch to deliver an…okay song. It’s not that it’s a bad song but I’m definitely sure this will not be a single. I just feel that at this point in 50 Cent’s career, he needs to make an album more in the vein of “Smile (I’m Leavin’)” than “Ayo Technology”.

Also this week, T.I. made news by selling almost 600,000 copies of Paper Trail. And even though the bonus tracks from that album have been floating around for a minute, I just wanted to point out that if those track had been on the official album, I don’t know if H20 would have slapped that 4.5 on Paper Trail. Just my opinion.

And last but not least, it seems that Jake One’s new album, White Van Music,  has the readers and staff debating on whether it should get reviewed or not. I personally can see both sides; the album itself is awesome but reviewing compilations are a pain in the ass. Either way, that track featuring Little Brother (“Bless The Child”) is awesome. For those who haven’t heard the album, check out the sample.

I like Collect Call. and btw what do you think of the Vibe poll? Sohh says its proof that Jay “tarnished” his legacy with the last two post retirment albums…

  2. King Jerm says:

Bless the child is FIRE! Maybe I’m biased, but I think that Phonte is in that top tier of MC’s out there. He is just one collabo away from being on everybody’s top ten list.

  3. Chew says:

    600k already? God damn.

  4. Guy Fawkes says:

Bless the child is a hot track.
But I’ve always thought Pooh was the better half of LB.

  5. H2O says:

I definitely would have slapped the 4.5 on Paper Trail with those two songs on: Collect Call is amazing, though I Know You Miss Me is kind of whatever.

  6. Boricua says:

50’s new joint is a hot song, but its no in da club….
50’s career is still spiraling out of control. see, what ppl dont understand, is that Get Rich wasn’t rly THAT hot, it was just that he had monster singles…. as his singles have deteriorates, so have his sales… see a pattern?? in order for Fif to get back on top, he needs one or 2 HUGE singles- thats the only way to create a buzz,, all this “grimy shit” hes been on lately just doesn’t work.

    Cosign if you agree yall

  8. PeterBuilt says:

You think Pooh is the better half of LB? Not to front on Pooh at all, because he is nice, but Tiggalo is on another level.

  9. V-G says:

Collect Call is really good, but the other song???? Eh…. 600K is impressive T.I.! 300 thou short of Wayne is an amazing feat!

Lol @ Boricua, man that was pointless to bring up!

And 50 sucks, that song sucks, and his team sucks…… I Speak The Truth.

  10. Crute says:

The 50 song is hot. I like it. “Collect Call” is another great T.I. song that should have been included on Paper Trail. The other T.I. song is just okay.

who called it for 600k…^^^^ this guy. haha shout out to my boy TIP(if that was really him that commented on the site) and everyone at nappyafro for supporting this album and respecting the hustle!!!!!!!!

P.S. Paper Trail is a wayyyyyyy better album than Wayne’s.
