2007 nappyafro Staff Picks
Here’s our personal staff picks and favorites of 2007.
Jozeemo|Cry Now L.A.F. Later
Hailing from the streets of Durham, N.C by the way of Chicago, Jozeemo aims some lyrical hollow points at the listeners on Cry Now L.A.F. Later. A Hall of Justus member, but don’t let that fool you, his music is from/for the streets.
Chingy|Hate It Or Love
Chingy’s back! Did you miss him? Naw, me neither. But seriously, I’ve never really been a Chingy fan. I didn’t like “Right Thurr” or “One Call Away” off of his 2003 debut Jackpot (Shot out to grown up Rudy!).
Jay-Z & Veterano|American Me EP
The other week, my boy Thic hooked y’all up with a good quality remix of American Gangster by Von Pea (American Angster). Well, today I’m giving you what I personally think is the best remix of the album to date. It’s from producer Veterano and it’s called American Me EP. He does something different here [...]
Lupe Fiasco|Lupe Fiasco’s The Cool
I wasn’t really impressed with Lupe Fiasco’s last album, Food & Liquor. While I liked some tracks off the album and I know he’s talented and people keep telling me he’s talented, I never was a huge fan.
Song of the Week: Snoop Doggy Dogg feat. Dat Nigga Daz, Nate Dogg, Tray Deee, & Bad Azz – “Santa Claus Goes Straight To The Ghetto”
Okay, we know how cliché it is to have a Christmas Rap song for Song of the Week. But hey; what do you do? There were a lot of songs we could have gone with. Jerm was crying because he wanted Run DMC’s “Christmas In Hollis”, P-Body probably wanted something from 2Pac, and Thic probably [...]
Jay-Z & Von Pea|American Angster
I have been pretty open about my opinion of the American Gangster project. It’s aite. I thought it was another step down in the legacy of Jay though. From the Black Album, to Kingdom Come, then to AG; it’s a steady decline. However, Von Pea of Tanya Morgan has helped this CD out. [...]
Wu-Tang Clan|8 Diagrams
“Wu-Tang! Wu-Tang!” Yeah, the unthinkable has happened, Wu-Tang Clan has released another album. It’s been six years since Wu released an album and let’s be honest; the climate in Rap music has changed immensely
Gucci Mane|Back To The Traphouse
Okay folks, I’m back at ya once again with another album review for the ‘07, I decided to review Gucci Mane, even though I’m not a fan of his music (I did like that “Trap House” song though; that’s my shit).
